SnowRanger Ski Resort Maps for Garmin® and Magellan® GPS
Don't Get Lost
|Garmin Oregon coming in Third Quarter|
|Garmin announced a new outdoors GPS today that will be an ideal skiing GPS for SnowRanger GPS trail maps come the winter.|
The Garmin Oregon series consists of 5 models:
- Oregon 200
- Oregon 300
- Oregon 400c
- Oregon 400i
- Oregon 400t
All the Garmin Oregon GPS models features a large 3" color touchscreen, a high sensitivity GPS chip with HotFix technology to drastically reduce satellite acquisition time on start-up, and turn-by-turn directions when loaded with optional street maps.
The Oregon 300 adds the wireless capability featured on other Garmin models, allowing for GPS-GPS data transfers and, more excitingly, connectivity to Garmin's heart rate monitor and bicycle speed/cadence sensor to turn it into a fitness GPS.
The Oregon 400 models add preinstalled maps: BlueChart g2 coastal charts for the 400c, U.S. Inland Lakes for the 400i, and U.S. topographic maps (with shaded relief) for the 400t.
You might consider it a ruggedized, waterproof nuvi, though it's probably more realistic to consider it a "touchscreen Colorado". SnowRanger maps can be either downloaded to it or you can buy them on microSD memory card and slot them right in. The inexpensive 200 and topo-map loaded 400t will be the models we'll be playing closest attention to. All models should be available in the fall.
Garmin have launched a minisite for the Oregon.
