Amazon Kindle e-book reader
To me the ability to read books and newspapers on an electronic device with the comfort and convenience of old fashioned, indeed ancient, paper is one of technology's Holy Grail. Producing something that would make curling up with it in front of a roaring fire seem like a cozy comfort rather than an extension of the home office is extremely difficult.

The latest player is Amazon, with their own-branded . Besides the usual e-book reader features, such as a clear eye-comfortable screen, the Kindle's standout technical feature is a built-in wireless connection that uses cellular CDMA/EVDO, not WiFi. This allows for a controlled infrastructure for shopping for and buying books and newspapers for it, and early reviewers have praised this architecture, while being somewhat lukewarm about the overall user experience.
