Yahoo! subsidiary Flickr has added support for , that is, adding latitude/longitude coordinates to a photo to show where it was taken. Flickr visitors can now to see what photos have been taken in particular areas.

As well as offering its members a new tool to add the geotags after a photo has been updated it also recognizes existing geotags in the EXIF information that can be associated with an image. This can be added either at the time the picture is taken by the small number of cameras (eg the ) that have an embedded GPS, or by a tool that takes a GPX track from a GPS and cross-references it with time-stamp information from a set of photos to infer where each photo was taken.

Other ways to capture geotagged pictures are Navman's series of GPSes with a digital camera feature such as the , and GPS-enabled smartphones such as the .
