Mac software for Garmin and Magellan?
As we last week, Garmin made an this week at MacWorld on their ongoing efforts to improve Mac support.

Unfortunately the announcement only covered their software, which works with their running/biking oriented Edge and Forerunner models to manage the owners' training and racing data. We'd been hoping for news on a Mac version of MapSource to allow Mac owners to download and Garmin maps to their GPSes.

I spoke with a Garmin rep at CES this week, and he confirmed that there was no Mac version of MapSource imminent.

Over on the Magellan side, I put the same question to them at CES, and they too do not have announced plans for a Mac version of their MapSend software.

Note that the Garmin version of SnowRanger is now available on that insert right into Garmin nüvi and "x" series GPSes which have microSD or SD card slots. If you own one of these models you no longer even need to use a PC of any kind to load your SnowRanger maps! The cards are for a just a $10 fee to cover the cost of media and shipping.
