Garmin seems to be moving away from SiRF on a growing number of models. At least some of the H models (eg Legend HCx) use MediaTek chips, and the new 200-series nuvis use an STMicroElectronics chip set according to .

Although SiRF has the best technical reputation amongst the GPS chipset vendors, and cost may be a factor, clearly Garmin would not make these sourcing selections unless they felt they could meet their requirements and support Garmin's reputation for quality and performance.
